Statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs
France utterly condemns the attacks perpetrated today against the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) office in Mazar-i-Sharif in the north of the country which killed several people, including personnel members of the mission.
We extend our condolences to the families of the victims, as well to UNAMA and its personnel.
By attacking the United Nations, which is working to promote the stabilization and development of Afghanistan, those responsible for these acts are directly striking out at the Afghan people and their desire for peace. We urge the Afghan authorities to firmly condemn these acts, to bring those responsible to justice, and to do everything to ensure the safety of United Nations personnel in Afghanistan.
In these tragic circumstances, we again express our support for and our solidarity with the Afghan people as well as the United Nations, its personnel and the action they are carrying out in support of the people of Afghanistan.
