France welcomes the European Union decision to declare an embargo on Syrian crude oil imports.
France would like to reaffirm that it will continue to intensify pressure on the Syrian regime as long as it continues to impose a bloody crackdown against its own people. The European Union demonstrates, through this 6th round of sanctions, its determination in the face of the Syrian leaders’ unacceptable behavior.
Europe and France will continue to work - particularly within the framework of the United Nations - to convince their partners to do everything legally possible to ensure that the Syrian people can attain freedom and democracy.
