Statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
France condemns the new approval given by the Israeli authorities to a project to build 1,500 homes in the settlement of Ramat Schlomo in East Jerusalem. We reaffirm that settlement activity is illegal, undermines trust between the parties and constitutes an obstacle to peace.
France is especially concerned by the recent increase in the number of settlement-related decisions, which directly threatens the two-state solution. It urges the Israeli authorities to reverse these decisions and to refrain from any further measures.
