France, which was the first country to recognize the Syrian National Coalition and which recently hosted in Paris a meeting that brought together around 50 countries in order to encourage practical support for the coalition, will participate in the meeting of the Friends of the Syrian People group which will take place in Rome on February 28. It will be represented by the ambassador to Syria, Eric Chevallier.
This meeting comes at a time when the crackdown against the Syrian people is intensifying and the volume of displaced persons and refugees is constantly increasing. It will provide an opportunity for a growing proportion of the international community to reaffirm its support for the coalition through concrete measures.
