29 April 2013 - Iraq / Violence

Statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

France strongly condemns the violence that has in recent days led to the death of many demonstrators and law enforcement officers in several provinces of the country.

More than ever, it calls for restraint and reaffirms the importance of dialogue and an inclusive political process, while ensuring respect for the balance of the Iraqi institutions.

France also condemns the murder of Jalal Diab, an important human rights figure, who notably defended the rights of Iraq’s black minority (the Zanj).
