Today the UN secretary-general announced the composition of the High-level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Framework, co-chaired by Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf; Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono; and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron.
France welcomes the establishment of this high-level panel that will offer guidance on structuring international development efforts after 2015, the deadline for the Millennium Goals adopted by the UN in 2000. We are delighted that one of the eminent persons on the panel is Jean-Michel Severino, whose candidacy was proposed by France. In 2005, Mr. Severino, the former director of the French Development Agency, had served on the High-level Panel on UN System-wide Coherence in the Areas of Development, Humanitarian Assistance and the Environment.
