France welcomes and supports the decision of the ICC Prosecutor, Mr Moreno-Ocampo, to ask the ICC to issue three arrest warrants for crimes against humanity against Muammar Gaddafi, his son Saif al-Islam Qaddafi, and Al Abdullah Sanusi, director of Libyan intelligence.
This decision, based on resolution 1970 of the UN Security Council, is in line with the policy against impunity in all places which our country strongly supports.
You will have noticed that few people are incriminated. This reflects the extreme concentration of power and criminal liability in Libya. More than ever it is clear that Muammar Gaddafi, as the two other people incriminated, has no place in political discussions which must begin in order to build the future of Libya
In a few weeks, the judges will express themselves and mandates will be issued. France calls on the leaders of the Tripoli regime to draw all the conclusions.
