Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with the United Nations Secretary-General in preparation of the meeting of Mr. Ban Ki-moon with the President of the Republic on the margin of the NATO Summit in Chicago.

During this very substantial and warm working session, the main issues concerning the action of the United Nations were addressed, in particular the extremely serious situation in Syria and the worrying consequences for its neighbours, the political and security situation in the Sahel, the "Rio +20" Conference and the efforts undertaken to reform the Organization.
A significant convergence was found on all topics. France is committed to the United Nations and the universal values it embodies. Mr. Laurent Fabius emphasized France’s determination to continue supporting the work of the Organization and of its Secretary-General.
