Syria - Adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution condemning the human rights violations

France welcomes the adoption yesterday by the UN General Assembly at its plenary meeting of the resolution condemning the grave and systematic human rights violations by the Syrian authorities.

By voting in favor of this text, 133 States chose to call once again on the Syrian authorities to immediately put an end to the violence, to cooperate with the United Nations and to implement the Plan of Action of the League of Arab States in its entirety without further delay. This resolution also demands that the UN Secretary-General provide support to the Arab League’s observation mission.

The consensus within the international community on the Syrian crisis is growing every day. This must now be reflected at the UN Security Council.
