The United Nations launched a major mobilization in support of Haiti following the earthquake on 12 January 2010. The United Nations’ peacekeeping operation in Haiti is the only peacekeeping operation deployed on the American continent.
Honduras is not on the Security Council’s agenda but the General Assembly seized itself of the matter during the institutional crisis of 2009.
